BACKGROUND
The Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) was established in 2012 to ensure excellence and best practice in multi-agency responses to major incidents. These models have become the standard for different emergency services working together.
The framework has been further developed to include training and awareness and is being adopted by emergency services across the world.
EBY has supported JESIP with a variety of marketing, digital and website projects since 2012, including the development of the internationally acclaimed JESIP App.
CHALLENGE
To support the roll-out of JESIP overseas, we were asked to create a series of physical Emergency Scenarios Enactment Maps.
These maps would be a vital learning and planning resource, allowing multiple emergency scenarios to be enacted at the same time.
They had to work for a global audience, regardless of language, while depicting regional terrain and environments that emergency responders would relate to. The maps also needed to show local facilities where emergencies could potentially happen.
On a practical level, they had to be robust, large enough to roll out on an office table or desk, suitable for use with model vehicles etc and easy to transport.
SOLUTION
We created a range of bespoke illustrative maps that met all the requirements in terms of an engaging and interactive learning aid, which is also practical to use and transport.
The range included multiple versions for more than 20 different locations around the world, from the UK to Mauritius and the Cayman Islands to Dubai.
The maps were produced on durable vinyl that can be easily rolled up for safe shipping and transport. It was also the perfect material for rolling out onto desks and using with a variety of models during the enactment of different complex emergency scenarios.
RESULTS
The new maps have helped emergency responders all over the world to prepare for a variety of major incidents in an interactive and engaging way.
This global resource equips responders with knowledge and strategies that will ultimately help save lives in real-life scenarios.
JESIP has reported a huge increase in engagement as a result of this more interactive, desk-top learning method.
